I've been struggling with this one. But after looking at other photos, reading the hints, etc I think we're talking about N6340T. That is the only plain aluminum 51 I know of that wore "red socks" at the time. The patch on the leading edge of the left wing also corresponds to contemporary photos of 40T.

This is P-51D N6340T, 44-73149 when owned by Robert MacFarlane.
