Oh well - it took some time to figure it out but here we go: This is 44-72826 / RCAF 9563 ex No. 402 'City of Winnipeg' Squadron, coded AC-U, photographed at Canberry, Manitoba, Canada in June 1961 - this a/c was noted at Winnipeg Int'l Airport on 29 July 1962 with US civil registry N6344T - it is one of the RCAF a/c bought by Aero Enterprises of Elkhart; subsequent owners were John Milton (from 1964), Max Ramsey (from 1973), Tom Watson (from 1978) - Dennis Bradley (1985, new registry C-FBAU), Steve Collins (from 1991, new registry N51YS) and Marius Maxwell of Paducah, KY, (from March 2002). The a/c is airworthy and flies as 'Old Boy'.

I recognize the photo, as it was published many years ago in a warbirds-type magazine. The attached story suggested that you could take your pick of these surplus RCAF 51's (turn-key) for $750.
