Since 1997, close to 9,000 hours of work has been put into this endeavor
and almost all of the time has been volunteer. Many of you have helped out with
information, images and photo ops and it is greatly appreciated!
Photography costs and programming/software costs are high.
Any contribution will help keep this magnificient aircraft in the spotlight.
Although, standing on the side of the runway
taking shots of a P-51 rushing by does not seem like work, the work comes when it
is time to publish and maintain over 6000 P-51 images and over 500 web pages!
UPDATE: September 2009
As we all know, the poor economy has hit many of us.
2009 has been a brutal year so far for me and MustangsMustangs. I am in
construction (residential) and the housing market and financial problems of 2008
are still around. My partnership went south last December and I was left with
less than 0. I have been out of work since except for some short term jobs. I've
been supporting myself, my family and MustangsMustangs by using up my savings and selling
all the unused tools and photo equipment that I had. I have moved out of California
to save money and find new opportunities as well.
Over the years
I have paid for the expenses to keep this site going. I have had help from you
guys, the readers and supporters of MustangsMustangs through donations, photo
work and advertising. Last year, 2008, two large advertisers did not pay their
bill and I had to pick up the balance to pay for expenses. It was over $2,500.
I have never had a problem paying the expenses, but things are different now.
I can no longer support all the cost myself.
To make matters worse I need surgery for the first time in my life. I have never
been in a hospital to be treated and I have been very healthy all of my life. I
am 49 now and in great shape. I have always had medical insurance either through
my employer or paid for by myself (like the last 19 years). With the housing
market coming to a stop, I had to let my insurance lapse (temporarily) ... and guess what ...
four months later, I need it! Such is life ...
So what does this all mean? I am asking for donations to MustangsMustangs.
Anything will help keep the lights on and the servers spinning. If you are in a
position to spare 5, 10 or 20 bucks, it will go towards paying this next years
server fees and server software.
Believe me, I would not do this if it was not needed.
Since I cannot hold a job now, (physical condition does not permit me to work),
I have made many updates and improvements to the site. I am working on more
pages in the survivors section. The pages are beta now, but getting closer to
being published. They are lists sorted by all P-51 registrations (past and present)
and all P-51 names (past and present). I am also working on a list of foreign
service P-51s so you don't have to look all over to find the info you want.
I will send you the links of the beta pages so you can take a look. I have
been reluctant to set up pages like this because it will make P-51 Who? way too
easy to research. You can scroll through all the P-51 registrations and names
from as far back as 1947. I really don't have them "all", but they are "all" that
I have for now. I am continually adding more and new info is found.
Well, that's about it for now. Thank you for any help you can give! Even an
old photo is help. If you are in position to help out with a donation, please
use the button below. It will take you to a secure place for a donation to
MustangsMustangs.
