Case #69 shows Al Letcher's beautiful Pacific Theater schemed -'Singapore Sally,' which he rebuilt from one of the Indonesian Mustangs brought back to the United States in the '70s by the late Steven Johnson. At the time it was registered N8064V. This is s/n 44-72777, which is in actuality a Mediterranean Theater combat veteran. This aircraft was the personal mount of Maj. Ralph 'Doc' Watson of the 52nd FG, of the Fifteenth Air Force. Watson was an ace with five kills to his credit. When Steve Seghetti purchased the aircraft in 1984 and found out its true history, he repainted it in its wartime markings. Although some controversy arose over the authenticity of the markings applied by Seghetti, there is an existing wartime photo that shows it to be correct. The aircraft is still owned by Seghetti, and is raced by he and his son Brant at Reno as 'Race #68, Sparky.'
Do you have any high resolution pictures of a p51 bluenose up close? thanks
