44-13257 ex-NACA 108 Long owned by the Lindsays
Hi, I agree with Roger. The picture might have been taken in the mid-60's, before the plane was rebuilt as the Cavalier F-51D MkII demonstrator (no wing tip tanks and camo scheme yet). Cases #253 and #254 are most probably the same aircraft. Cheers Marc

4222A and 51DL are the same aircraft, based at RIC in 1957. (added March 29, 2009) >> 4222a was based at RIC, VA in 1957. It was changed 51DL, then to 51DJ.
I flew for Cavalier during 1967-1970, spent many hours in 22A. The company had sold remanufactured Mustangs to several Latin countries and I was dispatched to fly the aircraft to Panama for an evaluation by their government. Nothing resulted from the effort. Somewhere I have a photo of the aircraft sitting on the ramp at what was then Howard AFB.
Fond memories, Howard Austin
