This is 44-74694 which served with the 167th FS WVA ANG, nicknamed 'The Phantom', it became N7720C, then N16S, then N6851 (Cavalier conversion) and finally became I-BILL in May 1969. The a/c crashed on July 3, 1977 near Mainz-Finthen (Germany) killing the pilot and its passenger. I own a picture of this ship, taken a few days before it crashed, showing an overall yellow scheme, succeeding the striking white/red scheme.
Case #139 shows I-BILL, case #119 shows an earlier ID, either N16S or N6851.
I am fairly certain that case #139 is Ditta Billi's Cavalier I-BILL (can't remember serial#) which crashed killing Ormond Hayden-Baillie in Germany in 1977. This plane was flown across the atlantic to Turin around 1969, and delivered to Mr. Billi who was (I believe!) an ice cream manufacturer. It later got repainted in a Yellow color scheme with (I think) black trim!
I have a photo of N7720C taken in 1963 at Kincheloe AFB in Michigan. Not the greatest photo in quality, but worthy of posting. If I remember correctly, it was flown in for some event such as Armed Forces Day. How can I email photo if you are interested?
Send it to mustangsx2 -(at)- gmail(dot)com - Thanks
