I took this Kodachrome Slide of P-51D-25NA 44-73832 N117E at the Fox Field Air Races, Lancaster, CA in May 1966. My notes say that this was Frank Sanders aircraft. The Air Races at Lancaster and Palm Springs which was later in the year were early attempts to get "air races" going again before it was decided to settle on Reno, Nevada. My private comment:I think a simple but a very pleasing color scheme that does not distract from the beauty of the Mustang. |
